HUGE news for you Dallas Cowboys fans out there, and for those who are sick of hearing about Dak Prescott - or both! Reports from multiple sources indicate that Prescott will sign his franchise tender on Monday, meaning that he cannot hold out from training camp, even without a contract extension. Reports say that Dak is signing his tender with the hopes of moving forward in his negotiations with Cowboys brass. If Prescott plays under the franchise tag, he will make around $31 million in 2020.
Speaking of contract extensions with a franchise quarterback - Deshaun Watson down in Houston may be wanting a short contract extension when his time comes with the Texans. According to Mike Florio from NBC Sports, a source told him the fourth year quarterback is looking for something similar to Dak Prescott's stance on a four year contract, in terms of length. To the NBA, where the Houston Rockets may be in the market for free agent guard Tyler Johnson. According to the Houston Chronicle, rumors have been circulating that the team will likely pursue the 6 foot 4 guard who was waived by the Phoenix Suns back in February. The Rockets are gearing up for a playoff push when the NBA resumes its season in July.
In college sports, some members of the University of Texas Longhorns football team are calling for a stop to the traditional "Eyes of Texas" school song. According to multiple outlets, the song can be traced back to Robert E. Lee, the Confederate general, and was performed at minstrel shows in the early 20th century. Players are asking that the school replace the song with one void of racist undertones.
